That was 2006. The year I applied to work for PGL. The year I met Andy (now my husband and the Father of my two beautiful boys). The year I travelled all over the country working for PGL and visiting new and old friends. The year I travelled round Jamaica with my Mum and brothers - my Mums dream come true. Wow what a year 2006 turned out to be for me! It was also the year my sister was diagnosed with cancer and I even managed to have fun with that - playing fluffy bunnies with marshmallows and driving her around in her wheelchair at top speed! Thankfully Beck is fully recovered and still talks about our wheelchair adventures.
So 'new' and 'fun' were the focus for 2006 and I certainly achieved that!
And so skip forwards a few years. I found other people had a word as a resolution. I found Christine Kane who created a 'word of the year' tool to help get the most from choosing your word. (Christine Kane is awesome check her free vision board book out too!). Andy and my brother, Jay came on board and Jay and I have spent the last two years completing the worksheet together and reviewing each other's progress. Its fun!
Which brings us to 2013.
But 'value'
Value for me is a four pronged word.
1. I value myself
2. I live true to my values
3. I add value to others
4. I value the contributions others make to my life
These are my aims, to learn to do these better in my life. That is why I am blogging, sharing photos on facebook, writing letters and sending photo postcards to family and friends (touchnote is such a great app for that - so easy and fun to use!!). That is why I am going for a spa afternoon with some girlfriends next weekend. That is why I am working my way dilligently through Barbra Stanny's enlightening book 'Overcoming Underearning'. That is why I am working on sorting out my finances. They are all ways of living 'value'.
